"Festivals promote diversity, they bring neighbors into dialogue, they increase creativity, they offer opportunities for civic pride, they improve our general psychological well-being. In short, they make cities better places to live. "

Before starting my photo story first I introduced my small town, Kakdwip is a city of South 24 Parganas district in the Indian State of West Bengal. It is situated on the eastern banks of the Hooghly River quite near where the river meets the Bay of Bengal. Let's start the photo story, A festival is a day or time of the year when people have a holiday from work and celebrate some special event, often a religious event. Especially December to end of January is known as the festival session. now I tell you about the small town festival, this festival is about new year celebration starting on 1st January to 6th January 2019. Every year people of Kakdwip celebrate the new year for hope, love, spirit & a wonderful new year. Festival means verity of products stalls, many rides, the different type of foods & lighting. Here I explore these things in my photo story.
The simple joys of sharing food: For small-towners, no celebrations are ever complete without sharing the joy with their loved ones. From distant relatives to neighbors, everyone becomes family. Only small-towners can understand the feeling of unmatched happiness that emanates from the humble exchange of sweets and food over festive gatherings, and how we love this collateral benefit so much. Festivals mean fast food so we (me & my friends ) explore some teste & spicy fast food like Papri chat, golgappe, chole bhature, ghugni etc.
Some sweets with coffee like Jalebi, badam cookies, rashbora, badam chapa etc.
Verity of products stalls: Festival means shopping, people buying much product during the festival. it's not because they are getting an extra discount for buying any product, its because buying a product on a festival carrying a unique joy & happiness. During this festival, we find some wonderful stall like a jewelry stall, toy stall, glass stall, some stationery stall etc.
Joyful Rides: Festival means enjoying the different ride with friends & family, some rides are very scary like jhoola, roller coaster some for children like mickey mouse ride, Rolling car but favorite is breakdance. In this collage, I capture some rides in one frame -
Colorful Lighting: Festival can't imagine without colorful lights. Light doesn't just add warmth and decoration. It has real symbolic meaning and so is integral to many of the world’s religions and traditions. Here I try to capture some beautiful lighting in a collage -
Festival plays an important role in the cultural development of an individual as well as provide us with a healthy rejuvenation. We also get a time out of our normal routine and provide us with a refreshing change of routine. This festival of kakdwip make the lives of the kakdwip citizens enthusiastic and colorful. Thus, the festivals in my small town are very important for the people of this town and their celebration is essential to keep the spirits of harmony and goodwill amongst the citizens of this small town.
