Dear Fellas, there are lots of exitement and Fun about to happen for ColorOS Fans. Keep the Fingers Crossed.
Today I have arrived with a new Thread, which comprises of detailed description of Functionalites of
The Bluetooth Technology.
Sounds Enthrilling!! Lets get into deep Guys. Come and Join the Banter.

What is Bluetooth?

Bluetooth is a wireless, automatic connection that is aimed at simplifying and communicating in the internet and data synchronization facilitating cable replacement technology. It works on a universal medium to bridge the data networks, peripheral interfacesto form a short range digital unlicensed radio frequency of 2.4GHz in a wide range of 10 mts. Due to their independence on short range radio link, Bluetooth devices do not require a line of site connection in order to communicate.

Bluetooth technology is a short-range wireless communications technology to replace the cables connecting electronic devices, allowing a person to have a phone conversation via a headset, use a wireless mouse and synchronize information from a mobile phone to a PC, all using the same core system.

We are Living in a Wireless World, where Bluetooth technology is the master of those world having the promising future. Bluetooth is a short-range. Wireless Communication Technology that allows devices such as mobile phones, computers, and peripherals to transmit data or voice wirelessly over a short distance. The purpose of Bluetooth is to replace the cables that normally connect devices, while still keeping the communications between them secure.

Bluetooth was intended as a wireless replacement for cables. It uses the same 2.4GHz frequency as some other wireless technologies in the home or office, such as cordless phones and WiFi routers. It creates a 10-meter apprximate upto 33-foot radius wireless network, called a PAN ( Personal Area Network) or piconet, which can network between two and eight devices. This short-range network allows you to send a page to your printer in another room, for example, without having to run an unsightly cable.

History and Principle

Jaap Haartsen and Sven Mattisson gave birth to Bluetooth.
The technology of Bluetooth was invented by L.M.Erricson in 1994.

The technology of Bluetooth was named after Harald Blaatand Bluetooth II, the king of Denmark.
In 1999, ERICSSON erected a rune stone in LUND (SWEDEN) in memory of the great king who had an epithet of multi communicating.

This technology of Bluetooth is comprised around very small nano microchip, which functions as low cost and short radio link and also provide a 10m personal bubble that support the simultaneous transmission of handling multimedia deviceswhich carries both voice and data for the multiple devices. We can connect upto 8 devices that can be connected via piconet and it can 10 piconets can be exist within the 10 meter bubble.

Evolution of Bluetooth

In most of the Bluetooth devices, a Bluetooth enabling device is added as a separate card. For example, in a laptop, this can be in the form of a PCI card or USB adapter. The data to be sent to the LMP (Link Manger Protocol) and base band travel through the USB. A driver is required in the Host device like Laptop and a host controller in the Bluetooth device to establish connection and to transmit / receive data.

Bluetooth range and transmission speeds are typically lower than Wi-Fi (the wireless local area network that you may have in your home). Bluetooth v3.0 Bluetooth high-speed technology devices can deliver up to 24 Mbps of data, which is faster than the wifi standard, but slower than wireless-a or wireless-g standards. As the technology has evolved, however, Bluetooth speeds have increased.

ase.PNG

Each piconet will support upto 3 simultaneous full duplex voice devices. The data rate can be 1 MB/s. But the actual date rate are 432 kbps for the bull duplex transmission.
Bluetooth wireless technology is designed to be as secure as a wire with upto 128 bit public and private key authentication.  Bluetooth uses less power and costs less to implement than Wi-Fi. Its lower power also makes it far less prone to suffering from or causing interference with other wireless devices in the same 2.4GHz radio band.

Advantages of Bluetooth 5

Bluetooth 5 is actually about 1.7 times faster than BLE 4.2.
With Bluetooth 5 Long Range (Coded), where data transmission rates drop, we can manage a connection of over 100m.
Bluetooth 5 has  the increased range without increasing the power usage is to reduce the data rate.
As the range increases the benefits of normal Bluetooth 5 diminish compared to BLE 4.2.

Now Bluetooth 5 is in action, are you excited to see it in upcoming smartphones??

Network Arrangement and Data Transmission

Bluetooth network arrangements (topology) can beeither point-to-point or point-to-multipoint. Any unit in a piconet can establisha connection to another piconet to form a scatter net. See the figure, whichdiagrams a scatter net in which piconet A, which consists of four units, isconnected to piconet B, network.

Data can be transmitted both synchronously and asynchronously. The Synchronous Connection Oriented (SCO) method is used primarily for voice, and Asynchronous Connectionless (ACL) is primarily for data. Within a piconet, each master-slave pair can use adifferent transmission mode, and modes can be changed at any time. Time Division Duplex (TDD) is used by both SCO and ACL, and both support 16 types of packets, four of which are control packets that are the same in each type. Because of the need for smoothness in data transmission, SCO packets are generally delivered via reserved intervals, that is, the packets are sent in groups without allowing other transmissions to interrupt. SCO packets can betransmitted without polling by the sending unit.

Bluetooth Core Protocols

When the Bluetooth enabled device is within the range of transmission, paging starts in synchronization with the device and a link establishes between them. The different stages of this are,

Baseband
The Baseband and Link control Layer enables the link Bluetooth units in this layer uses inquiry and paging procedures to synchronize the transmission between different Bluetooth devices.

Link Manager Protocol (LMP)
The link managerprotocol is responsible for setting up link channels between Bluetooth devices after performing security methods like authentication and encryption by generating, exchanging and verifying linking and encryption keys andnegotiating base band packet size.

Logical Link Control and Adaptation Protocol(L2CAP)
L2CAP packets carry payloads which are carried to the upper layerprotocols.

Service Discovery Protocol (SDP)
Using SDP,device information, services allowed and characteristics of the services arequeried between Bluetooth enabled devices.

Limitations

There are some limitations are here to Bluetooth.
The first is that it can be a drain on battery power for mobile wireless devices like smartphones, though as the technology (and battery technology) has improved, this problem is less significant than it used to be. Also, the range is fairly limited, usually extending only about 30 feet, and as with all wireless technologies, obstacles such as walls, floors, or ceilings can reduce this range further. The pairing process may also be difficult, often depending on the devices involved, the manufacturers, and other factors that all can result in frustration when attempting to connect.

How Secure is Bluetooth?
Bluetooth is considered a reasonably secure wireless technology when used with precautions. Connections are encrypted, preventing casual eavesdropping from other devices nearby.
Bluetooth devices also shift radio frequencies often while paired, which prevents easy invasion. Devices also offer a variety of settings that allow the user to limit Bluetooth connections.
The device-level security of "trusting" a Bluetooth device restricts connections to only that specific device.

nxp-bluetooth.png

With service-level security settings, you can also restrict the kinds of activities your device is permitted to engage in while on a Bluetooth connection.
For the average person, Bluetooth doesn't present a grave security risk when used with safety in mind (e.g., not connecting to unknown Bluetooth devices). For maximum security, while in public and not using Bluetooth, you can disable it completely.

Conclusion

Since 1996, Bluetooth has found its way into many billions of products worldwide. Its is reflected in the fact that it's a household name. It was the appearance of Bluetooth 4.0, also known as Bluetooth Low Energy, in June 2010 that made the technology an attractive solution for a new area of products and applications, particularly IoT sensors with severely restricted power budgets. As Bluetooth has evolved further to 5.0, the Low Energy offering has been enhanced in many ways, including improved data capacity, wider bandwidth, longer transmission range, reduced interference with other wireless services, better Internet security and connectivity, and mesh networking.

In this article, we have looked at Bluetooth from a developer's perspective. We have seen how the technology has evolved, and reviewed the essential building blocks of Bluetooth Low Energy. Then, we have given some practical examples of Bluetooth development kits and modules, showing how developers can accelerate their learning and reduce their time to market as they build BLE into their own products.

That's all Folks for now.
