Hello ColorOs Family,

Hope you all doing well.

Today I am here to post an article about 5G.

main.png
As you all know is about to launch in India soon and many companies already launching their 5G smartphones in the market. But many of us don't know much about 5G. So, In this article, I will cover all about 5G.

Topics Covered:

What is 5G?

Benefits of 5G?

How's 5G different from previous generations?

How fast is 5G?

Where's 5G being used?

So without any delay, let's start the article

5g.png

5G is the 5th generation of mobile networks which is a significant evolution of today's 4G LTE networks.  It is a new global wireless standard after 1G, 2G, 3G, and 4G networks. 5G has been designed so as to meet the very large growth in data and connectivity of today's modern society.
5g side.png

This meant to deliver higher multi-Gbps peak data speeds, ultra-low latency, more reliability, massive network capacity, increased availability, and a more uniform user experience to more users. Higher performance and improved efficiency empower new user experiences and connect new industries.

5G will initially operate in conjunction with existing 4G networks before evolving to fully standalone networks in subsequent releases and coverage expansions.

BENEFITS OF 5G

difference.png
5G is not only about speed, but it has also other perks, too. 5G will have greater bandwidth, meaning it can handle many more connected devices than previous networks. That means no more spotty service when you’re in a crowded area. And it will enable even more connected devices like smart toothbrushes and self-driving cars.

benefits.png
5G will also reduce latency — the time it takes for a cell phone or another connected device to make a request from a server and get a response — to virtually zero. And it will make communication with cloud platforms faster and easier.

DIFFERENT FROM PREVIOUS GENERATIONS

5G has a lot of difference as compared to previous generations of mobile networks which are 1G, 2G, 3G, and 4G.

difference 1.png
1G, 2G, 3G, and 4G all led to 5G, which is designed to provide more connectivity than was ever available before.
5G runs on the same radio frequencies that are currently being used for your smartphone, on Wi-Fi networks, and in satellite communications, but it enables technology to go a lot further.

evolution.png
Beyond being able to download a full-length HD movie to your phone in seconds (even from a crowded stadium), 5G is really about connecting things everywhere – reliably, without lag – so people can measure, understand and manage things in real-time.
This has enormous potential – and together, we will take it to the next level
.

HOW FAST IS THE 5G

5G speed tops out at 10 gigabits per second (Gbps).

5G is 10 to x100 faster than what you can get with 4G.

parts.jpg
That's fast enough to download a two-hour movie in fewer than 10 seconds, versus around 7 minutes with 4G. Actual download speeds will depend on a number of factors, including location and network traffic.

speed.png

What makes 5G faster? Good question!

According to communication principles, the shorter the frequency, the larger the bandwidth.

The use of shorter frequencies (millimeter waves between 30GHz and 300GHz) for 5G networks is why 5G can be faster. This high-band 5G spectrum provides the expected boost not only in speed but also in capacity, low latency, and quality.
But 5G is about more than just how fast it is. In addition to higher peak data rates, 5G is designed to provide much more network capacity by expanding into a new spectrum, such as mmWave.

5G can also deliver much lower latency for a more immediate response and can provide an overall more uniform user experience so that the data rates stay consistently high—even when users are moving around. And the new 5G NR mobile network is backed up by a Gigabit LTE coverage foundation, which can provide ubiquitous Gigabit-class connectivity.

5G's USAGE

usage 2.png
Broadly speaking, 5G is used across three main types of connected services, including enhanced mobile broadband, mission-critical communications, and the massive IoT. A defining capability of 5G is that it is designed for forwarding compatibility—the ability to flexibly support future services that are unknown today.

Enhanced mobile broadband
In addition to making our smartphones better, 5G mobile technology can usher in new immersive experiences such as VR and AR with faster, more uniform data rates, lower latency, and lower cost-per-bit.

Mission-critical communications
5G can enable new services that can transform industries with ultra-reliable, available, low-latency links like remote control of critical infrastructure, vehicles, and medical procedures.

Massive IoT
5G is meant to seamlessly connect a massive number of embedded sensors in virtually everything through the ability to scale down in data rates, power, and mobility—providing extremely lean and low-cost connectivity solutions.
